Bombarded by boxes

on December 22, 2008

We had a very busy end of the week! Our kitchen is a maze of boxes! Here’s why:

Our crib and dresser/changing table came in! I was very happy since we just ordered it about a week ago. We don’t have a large vehicle so Ning and Den ever so graciously helped us out, as usual. 🙂 Unfortunately, we still haven’t moved everything out of the baby’s room so the boxes are still sitting in the kitchen…unpacked, of course. And may I just say that the box for the dresser is HUGE! Scott thinks it’s fully assembled. We hope it will fit through the bedroom door! It fit through the garage door so it should be fine, right?

We also have the new tv hooked up. It’s pretty awesome. The new satellite dish (we made the switch from DirectTV to the Dish network) was installed on Saturday. I spent most of the day watching the Food Network and HGTV. 🙂 (Scott often wonders if we get any channels since I’m usually watching one or the other. I couldn’t help it–Challenge was on and Iron Chef right after that. How could I resist?) It’s going to take a while getting used to the new DVR but the bonus is we can now watch recorded shows on the tv in the office. The down side is that the package Scott signed up for doesn’t get one of my favorite channels–Animal Planet. He’s talking about upgrading so we’ll see.

So, we have all kinds of boxes going on in the kitchen. Our recycling bin is currently jam packed from all our other cleaning and shipping arrivals so we can’t really put anything in there until after garbage day. (One day later than usual because of the holiday.) The biggest boxes have yet to be unpacked because we are still trying to figure out what we’ll be doing with the contents. Okay, it’s not THAT bad. It’s just a little harder to wander into the kitchen to get that late night drink of water than it used to be. 🙂

On the plus side, we got most of our Christmas shopping done yesterday. So, we don’t have to do TOO MUCH running around at the last minute. It helps that we’re keeping it really simple this year.

Next task, gift wrapping!
